The tobacco industry targets the Philippines for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities by claiming to provide donations to hospitals, government bodies, and scholarship programs for students. To prevent these unnecessary interactions, Article 5.3 was employed by the government. This resulted in the termination of partnerships between national and local officials, as well as the Department of Education’s rejection of sponsorship from tobacco companies. In return, the tobacco industry has channelled their resources in donating to civil society organizations (CSOs).
