Role of Art. 5.3 in Protecting Public Policy from Tobacco Industry Influence

“We should not invite the fox into the hen house.” ALL public health policies with regard to tobacco control have to be effectively protected from the interests of the tobacco industry. The deadly nature of the produce remains the same and this should be our driving force. Ensuring a broad scope of the obligations and guaranteeing the strictest possible transparency rules in all Parties to the FCTC would constitute the strongest, most realistic and effective way to reach our goal.
